I get asked all the time what my favorite nutrition books are by both colleagues and clients. It's so hard to pick just a few but these are some that really made a significant impact on me and how I live my life and guide my clients.
I've organized them in categories:
Nutrition books:
Beyond the Pill by @drjolenebrighten - an awesome look into hormone health from a functional perspective and how to recover post birth control pill.
Why Stomach Acid is Good For You by Jonathan V Wright - this book will blow your mind, especially if you're used to taking antacids all of your life. Adequate stomach acid is key for your overall gut health.
Put Your Heart in Your Mouth by Dr Natasha McBride - if you have any question on how to address high cholesterol or heart disease, this is a must read.
Your Body's Many Cries for Water by F. Batmanghelidj M. D. - so much in depth info that will make you want to chug water all day once you realize how crucial it is to literally every function in your body.
Cookbooks:
Practical Paleo by Diane Sanfillipo - this is actually a two in one deal, both a nutrition book and cookbook. If you're just getting into this whole functional medicine world, I highly recommend this being the first book you grab.
The Comfortable Kitchen by Alex Snodgrass @thedefineddish - amazingly beautiful and comforting meals that are healthy or can be adjusted easily if needed for specific diets.
The Defined Dish by Alex Snodgrass - the OG cookbook that really taught me how to cook healthy meals with so much FLAVOR. Great options for some kid meals as well.
Pregnancy books:
Week by Week Guide to Pregnancy by @mamanatural - A must read if you're pregnant or going to be soon! It will guide you through every question you could possibly have and all from a functional perspective.
Real Food For Pregnancy by @lilynicholsrdn - Are you concerned about what to eat, what not to eat, gestational diabetes, etc? This book is full of well researched information to guide you through the nutrition piece of pregnancy.
Mental health:
Nutrition Essentials for Mental Health by Leslie Korn - everything you need to know as a practitioner or client on how nutrition can impact your mental health.
The Mood Cure by Julia Ross - an awesome step-by-step book on how to nourish and heal your mental health from a functional perspective.
Homeopathy:
The Complete Homeopathy Handbook by Miranda Castro - if you're just getting into homeopathy, grab this book. It has everything you need (repertory, materia medica, how to use it, etc).
Homeopathic Cell Salt Remedies by Nigey Lennon and Lionel Rolfe - there are some arguments that you can use these 12 cell salts in place of all the other homeopathic remedies and this book goes into each in depth.
Have you read any of these? What are your favorites? What ones did I miss? Tell me below in the comments!
