Get Started: To Eat, Or Not To Eat



Ok, here’s the thing – you’ve got to start somewhere.

It’s time to give yourself some TLC, stop being your own last priority. I promise that you will be more successful in ALL aspects of your life if you take care of yourself first!

So where do you start? I’ll keep it short and sweet:

TO EAT:

  • Grass-fed, pasture-raised meat

  • Wild-caught, sustainable seafood

  • Organic fruits & vegetables

  • Nuts & seeds

  • Healthy fats & oils

OR NOT TO EAT:

  • Refined grains

  • Packaged snacks

  • Dairy Products

  • Sweetened beverages

  • Alcohol & caffeine (yes, I’m still working on this)

  • Sweeteners

LIFESTYLE:

  • Sleep, sleep, sleep

  • If you’re constantly waking up in the middle of the night, see blog post Interrupted Sleep & Insomnia

  • Get to bed before 10pm & be consistent with your schedule to encourage healthy sleep cycles.

  • Drink water!!!

  • How much? Take your weight in pounds & divide by 2. Each ounce you drink of a diuretic (drinks containing caffeine, fruit juices, etc.) drink 1.5 ounces of water to make up for it!

  • When? Sip it throughout the day! Don’t chug :)

  • Get rid of the stresses in your life

  • Get active every day

  • Even if its a 20 minute walk a day, exercise helps release good hormones & encourages healthy blood flow, which is essential to your overall health.

If you’re thinking, “Ok Nichole, you said a short & sweet list…” – just start with one bullet item at a time. Just start somewhere!
